When you press the button, your browser asks whether this page may use your camera and microphone.
The picture and the sound stay on this device. Nothing is recorded, saved or sent, and the test makes no network request.
Press Stop, or leave the page, and the camera and microphone turn off.
You can say no. The checklist below works without them.

Microphone level

Before the interview

A quiet room, with the door closed and notifications turned off.
A headset or earphones with a microphone, charged or plugged in.
Your ID document to hand, in case the programme runs an identity check on its own site. Never send ID by chat or email.
The interview time written down in your own time zone. Check the time zone on the invitation.
The format known in advance: chat, video or voice, and whether it is recorded.
Your device plugged in, and other apps that use the camera or microphone closed.
Check your connection with Cloudflare’s speed test (opens in a new tab). It opens on Cloudflare’s site, in a new tab; this page sends nothing to it.

What this check can’t do

This check tells you whether your camera and microphone work in this browser today. It can’t test your connection: use the speed test link for that. It holds no interview content or practice questions.
